Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account or an internet connection to use the app?

No. You can use ColorCatcher fully offline and without an account to capture colors and build palettes right on your phone. Everything stays on your device — your palettes are never sent to ColorCatchers unless you choose to share them.

When you want to share a palette on the community site, open the menu in the top-left corner (the ... button) and tap Login to create an account. Only then are the palettes you choose to share uploaded.

I'm not receiving my login code.

Check your spam folder. The code is valid for a few minutes. If the problem persists, wait 2 minutes and request a new one.

Why does the app ask for camera access?

ColorCatcher needs your camera to capture colors in real time. Analysis happens entirely on your device — no image is sent to our servers without your consent.

How do I remove a published catch? Go to your gallerie and find the catch you want to remove. Tap on it to open the details, then tap "Unpublish".

How do I delete my account?

Go on profile, scroll down and tap "Delete account". This will permanently remove all your data from our servers. This action cannot be undone. All your published catches will be removed from the gallery, but any catch you shared on social media will remain there. All uour unpublished catches remains on your device. You can delete them manually if you want to.

Color extraction doesn't seem accurate.

Results depend on the lighting and contrast of the scene. For best results, avoid very dark or overexposed environments. Also depends on the smartphone camera quality. If you think the results are consistently inaccurate, please send us a sample catch so we can investigate.

How do I export a backup of my palettes?

Open the menu in the top-left corner (the ... button), then go to Data → Export my palettes. This downloads a JSON file containing all your saved palettes, which you can keep as a backup or re-import later.
